Alison Crowther was born in 1965, in West Yorkshire. She studied at the Royal College of Art, London (1987-89). After a period of teaching at Bedales, since 1998 she has been able to devote herself full-time to designing and making furniture and sculpture. She has exhibited widely since 1992 and has received a number of substantial commissions including, Winchester Cathedral (1996), Chatsworth Park, Derbyshire (1999), The Cass Foundation, West Sussex (2006), and work for private clients throughout Europe and the USA including Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Island, MA, USA. Commissions for corporate clients include, two large sculptures for the landscape of Fidelity International, a tripartite sculpture for Swire Properties, Hong Kong, and Crowther more recently sold work for a new resort Sheraton Hotel in Guangzhou, China.
